HVAC Owners Edge is an independent site for owners of heating and air companies who want a fuller board without signing a contract to learn whether the marketing works.

Who writes it

Steve Meitler is the editor. He has spent years running growth campaigns for local service businesses, heating and air contractors among them, and has sat through enough sales decks aimed at HVAC owners to notice what is always missing: a number you can verify.

Where the benchmark numbers come from

The benchmark report is built from public Google Business Profile listings. We search Google Maps for HVAC, air conditioning and heating contractors in every US state, collect the public fields on each listing (review count, star rating, website link, hours, category, location), remove duplicates by Google place, and compute the statistics. Nothing comes from behind a login and no personal data is stored. The dataset holds 46,610 listings across 51 states and is refreshed monthly. At that scale collection errors are unavoidable, so treat every figure as accurate to within a point or two, not to the decimal.

One note on categories. HVAC listings are messy. Some contractors file as air conditioning contractors, some as heating contractors, some as plumbers who also do mechanical. We include the mechanical trades categories and accept that a few plumbing-first shops land in the set at the low end.

Editorial rules

  • No pay-to-play. Nobody can buy a mention, a link, a ranking or a recommendation on this site.
  • Every number is sourced, either to our dataset or to a primary source such as Google's own documentation. Opinions are labeled as opinions.
  • Guides are written for an owner who is dispatching, quoting and answering the phone. If a step cannot be done in an evening or handed to an office manager, it does not get published.
  • We date every guide and update it when the platforms change.
  • No affiliate links and no manufacturer sponsorships. We have no stake in which brand you carry.

How the free trial works

The site is funded by the marketing work we do for HVAC companies. Every service is offered as a free 14-day trial because a contractor should watch the calls come in before paying anyone. You text or call, name the service (Google Ads, Local Services Ads support, Meta ads, AI search optimization, local SEO and Google profile work, website design, social media, review generation, missed-call text-back, email and SMS for agreement renewals, bookkeeping, or appointment setting), and we set it up in your own accounts, usually inside 48 hours. It runs 14 days. No card is held, nothing renews. At the end you keep it at a price quoted up front, switch, or stop.

One honest caveat: 14 days in a heat wave and 14 days in April produce very different numbers, and we will tell you which one you are in.

Text or call (385) 832-6175, or start on the free trial page.

Try any marketing service free for 14 days.

Pick anything we do. We run it for your HVAC company for two full weeks at no cost, then you decide. No card, no contract, nothing to cancel.
